I'm Yahia and i built a free website for pocket knife enthusiasts called knifegeek.io earlier this year, when i launched it on HN it hit the front page which was an awesome experience.

Since then i've continued working on the site in my free time and just added something i think is quite cool

Every 15 min, it grabs the latest posts to r/Knife_Swap, r/EDCExchange, r/CanadianKnifeSwap and parse them with open ai's chatGPT to extract the knife being mentioned, i then cross-reference it with my internal db of 50K+ knives (using chatGPT to check if this is correct) before enriching the data with the image and relevant links.

The end result is an easy to use table that updates every 15 minutes and shows you the latest knives that got posted with their prices (if mentioned).

Still a WIP but thought it might be worth sharing, let me know your thoughts :)
