I remember seeing some software way back (I believe it was written by some research group), that could automatically rewrite mathematical expressions used in software to improve their numerical stability.

I've tried searching but have not been able to rediscover this software. Does anyone remember which software this could be, or have suggestions for software to solve this problem?
