These softwares have lot in common, the company is classified into product teams to support these products. The product team have individual design team, engineering team.
The company is undergoing reorg to bring these platform under one engineering because having multiple engineering has cost to it.
These products are heavy on UI. I have a niche skill, that I can refactor, architect plan to reduce code into configuration into a drag and drop builder, both automated as well as I can direct some other juniors to do it manually.
Looks like I see full picture, unfortunately the strategy in the org does not reflect in the doers in the engineering and they are Introducing tech debts and it's a chaos.
I applied for a lead technical architect role for the unified platform but I got rejected due to finance reason, that's what I was told by my boss boss.
Looks like I'm the only one with clear picture and I'm connecting the dots of different team's involvement in this activity. Every other team are blindly obeying orders and not suggesting anything back.
One: I have realised I'm in wrong role. I'm senior software engineer. I'm not sure whymat the right role is.
Two: I want to find clients to sell myself and my skill. I'm new to this, if you have done it, how to take my first step?
What's my skill? UI, built Design to readable code tool concept, audit engineering departments.
I have been working for 11 years, in other words it took me 11 years to believe in myself.
